"And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..." —Hebrews 12:1
WHAT ARE YOU ASKING ME TO DO?
First and foremost, we invite you to pray and seek God regarding your commitment to FORWARD. If applicable, talk with your spouse and family about what this commitment means for you.
HOW LONG IS MY COMMITMENT?
FORWARD is a two-year commitment from January 2015 to December 2016.
IF I COMMIT TO FORWARD, HOW DOES THIS CHANGE MY GIVING TO THE GENERAL FUND?
FORWARD simplifies your giving. Rather than dividing giving between our ministry/operating budget (General Fund) and our debt repayment budget (7 Year Fund), FORWARD combines these two into one giving initiative to sufficiently fund our ministries while adhering to the 7 Year Plan repayment schedule. Our 7 Year Plan calls for $1.15 million to be paid against principal each year, a total of $2.3 million over the course of the FORWARD initiative. Therefore, our two year total of $11 million reflects our ministry/operating needs as well as our principal debt reduction goal.
ARE THERE ADDITIONAL WAYS, BESIDES CASH, I CAN GIVE MORE TOWARDS FORWARD?
Be creative! Explore other ways you and your family can give. You may have savings, securities, properties or other items of that nature. Or, perhaps you have other stored resources God may be calling you to give.
WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER GIVEN TO CHRIST UMC BEFORE?
FORWARD is about the vision of our church and about God’s call for each of us to participate in His work. We would really love for you to join us for the FORWARD initiative. This is a great first step to get involved!
IF I AM ALREADY GIVING TO CHRIST UMC, SHOULD I INCREASE THAT AMOUNT FOR FORWARD?
We are asking each individual and/or family to prayerfully consider taking a step up the Giving Ladder (on page 6). If you have never given or give occasionally, consider stepping up to consistent giving. If you are giving consistently, consider moving to percentage giving. If you are already a percentage giver, then consider taking a step to tithing. There is a step for everyone to take. The point is to take a next step in personal discipleship when it comes to the resources we are blessed to manage.
WHAT IF I AM STRUGGLING IN DEBT RIGHT NOW? AM I SUPPOSED TO GIVE?
When we honor God with our financial resources, He promises to be involved with every aspect of our finances. Please contact us if you need assistance with this. Also, consider registering for the upcoming practical financial guidance class called Balanced.
CAN I GIVE ONLINE?
Yes! By popular demand, we will be adding online giving options soon. You can also fill out and submit your confidential Commitment Card online.
