Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030. 792.5 million people in the world don’t get the food they need to live a healthy life.

As believers in Jesus Christ we are called to feed the hungry and give water to the thirsty. The organization, Rise Against Hunger’s vision is to find ways to end hunger in our world today. They strive to make a global impact on hunger by building resilience, self-sufficiency and empowerment among the communities they work in and with. You have the opportunity to be part of this movement by participating in the church-wide campaign to pack over 15,000 meals to be used in communities around the world.

There are Two Main Ways to Get Involved

Option One:

Make a monetary donation to cover the cost of the meals. Each meal cost 29 cents. You can give by placing money in the Rise Against Hunger jugs during Wednesday night dinner or through your Sunday School Class offerings.

Our youth and children will have the opportunity to give their offering each Sunday morning throughout October to this great work.

Option Two:

Join us on Wednesday, November 15 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. as we pack meals for Rise Against Hunger.

Christ UMC's Goal:

Our goal is to pack 15,000+ meals. These packaged meals will be used primarily to support school feeding programs. Hunger is the common thread among the world’s most challenging issues. Targeting hunger—specifically by supporting school feeding programs—leverages support to other causes including poverty, disease, education, and the welfare of women and children. The assembly process will combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix including 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. These meal packages will be shipped around the world to support school feeding programs and crisis relief. The food stores easily, transport quickly and has a shelf-life of two years. Contact Jean Tippit at jean@christumcmobile.com for more information about how you can get involved.
