MISSIONS
We seek to empower ministry locally, nationally, and internationally through mission partnerships. Through those partnerships we provide opportunities to the members of Christ United to engage in changing the world by spending their time in service with those partner organizations. We encourage everyone to get involved in one or more of the following ways:
Pray for the missions we sponsor and our mission teams
Give to Christ United Missions Fund to support missions here and around the world
Serve on one of our teams or by contacting one of our supported agencies
Change the World Service Events
Volunteer alongside others in service with local ministry opportunities. We emphasize projects that are family-friendly and involve a wide variety of skills and abilities so that everyone can participate. If you have Christ United apparel, please wear it. Habitat for Humanity | Tuesday, January 14 | 8:00 a.m.
We return to the Habitat build on LeFlore Drive to help install the exterior Hardy Board siding. Plan to work until lunchtime. No experience necessary. Since this is outdoor work, you may to dress in layers for warmth and flexibility, though a heater will be available. Sign up now!
Open Doors Thrift Store | Saturday, January 18 | 8:00 a.m.
Open Doors profits provided over $200,000 in support for Methodist agencies in our area last year (like Dumas Wesley Community Center, USA Wesley Foundation, Mobile Inner City Mission and others). We will sort and organize donated items for their Thrift Store displays. Sign up now!
Homeless and Refugee Coat Donation Drive
Now through January 22 | Christ Center Drop Off Bin
Our partner organizations are asking us to help provide outerwear for local homeless and refugee individuals. We’re accepting donations of coats, hats, gloves, and socks to be distributed through our ministry partners. New items and gently used items accepted. Drop off your donations in the bin near the Christ Center Information Desk. Men's and teen items are in particular demand. If you don't have a chance to shop, you can donate to Christ United with the memo line "COATS" and we'll handle the shopping for you.
