Ash Wednesday Service
Wednesday | February 18 | 6:30 p.m. | Sanctuary
As you may know, Ash Wednesday marks the commencement of this meaningful period of reflection and preparation for Easter. This year, we invite all our beloved church members to participate in our special Ash Wednesday Service. You will receive the imposition of ashes on your forehead. The ashes, carefully prepared from previous years Palm Sunday palms, symbolize our humble acceptance of our own mortality and the need for spiritual restoration. As we receive the imposition of the ashes upon our foreheads in the form of a cross as a symbol of our humble acceptance of our own mortality and the need for spiritual restoration, we publicly acknowledge our desire to turn away from sin and follow the path of Christ. Through this simple yet profound act, we embrace the Methodist understanding of Ash Wednesday, rooted in God's redeeming love, compassion, and forgiveness. Aligning ourselves with Christ's sacrifice and resurrection, we open our hearts to receive His transformative power throughout the upcoming season of Lent.
