‘Taste and See’ Event

Monday, September 8 | 5:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. | Fellowship Hall

Our Missions Ministry Partner, Communities of Transformation (COT) is hosting a meal and informational event. This ministry is designed to help individuals break the cycle of poverty in their own lives and in the community that surrounds us. If you (or someone you know) need help navigating the challenges of "not enough," or if you want to share in bringing hope to those who are struggling, come learn how to be involved.

About COT

Many people work hard but still struggle with isolation, lack of support, broken systems, and unexpected hardships. Christ United serves as a host site and supporter of the Communities of Transformation ministry that meets every Monday night, sharing a meal together and creating relationships while providing life skills/leadership training, encouragement, and resource engagement to help participants overcome the cycle of poverty. COT's goal of helping move families from surviving to thriving by developing personal leadership skills and building authentic relationships is based on working with our neighbors instead of doing for them. Come enjoy a free meal and learn about how you can be involved for yourself or on behalf of others.

Christ United will begin hosting weekly gatherings to provide teaching, resource access, fellowship, and community building – which has already been proven to help. We want to be a part of providing hope and encouragement that moves individuals from “striving to thriving.”

There are many ways you can play a part as we begin this weekly, Monday evening opportunity. You may serve in the following ways:

  • You or your group can sign-up to provide a meal that participants share each week.

  • You could be part of a rotating team that helps provide childcare for the meetings.

  • You could commit to sitting alongside those participants in the weekly meetings to helping provide encouragement and clarity as they engage the program’s sessions. Or, perhaps, you have a life-skill or training that you can share with the group in one of the many areas of interest that will be covered.
