The Gospel of John is a unique and powerful telling of Jesus’ story. One of the most amazing parts of John’s Gospel is that Jesus explicitly says who he is throughout seven “I Am” statements: I am the gate, I am the good shepherd, I am the bread of life, I am the resurrection, I am the light of the world, I am the way the truth and the life, and I am the true vine. These sayings are definitive statements of Jesus’ divinity and beautiful metaphors outlining the persons Jesus invites us to be.
